AI Discovery Technical Hygiene Snapshot

Enter your domain and we fetch it live, then report the technical hygiene AI crawlers and parsers depend on, measured the same way we measured 160 software websites in our 2026 study. It is a read on access and legibility, not a measure of whether assistants cite you.

We fetch your homepage, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and llms.txt live, score nine technical hygiene signals from our 2026 study, and email you the scorecard. llms.txt is reported but not scored. This measures access and legibility, not AI visibility. No modeled numbers, no metered credits, no obligation.

How we use this: we read only those four publicly available files. We never sign in, never submit forms, and never touch pages behind a login or on private networks. We store the domain, your email, and the score so we can send the scorecard and follow up once. Please enter a domain you own or are authorized to evaluate. Usage is rate limited. The short answer

Assistants can only use what they can reach and parse. This snapshot reports whether that layer exists on your site, names the gaps, and tells you what to do about each one. Anything beyond that requires asking the assistants directly.

  • Nine scored hygiene signals, read from live HTTP responses on your own domain
  • Compared against 160 software sites crawled on 2026-08-09
  • AI crawler policy, including OAI-SearchBot, plus a fix for each failed signal
  • It does not tell you whether assistants cite or describe you accurately

What this does not tell you

The limits, stated plainly

We would rather you trusted a narrow number than believed a broad one.

01

Not citations

Whether an assistant quotes your page depends on content quality, topical authority, and third-party sources that no crawl of your own domain can observe.

02

Not brand description

How a model describes your category position, product, and pricing comes largely from off-site evidence. That needs a prompt set and archived answers, not a hygiene check.

03

Not a competitive read

This scores one domain in isolation. Competitive mention comparison requires running the same prompts across a fixed competitor set over time.

What happens next

A read, then a decision

A visibility platform gives your team access to a dashboard. Momentence takes accountability for the outcome, and reports on pipeline rather than on task usage.

01

Fix it yourself

Every failed signal comes with the specific fix. Most are a one-time engineering task, and we would rather you shipped them than paid anyone to.

02

Go deeper on measurement

Hygiene is step one. Running a fixed prompt set against ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude, and archiving the raw answers, is how you learn whether anything moved.

03

Hand us the whole layer

If you want the site, SEO, AEO, GEO, content, and paid run as one program with pipeline accountability, our pricing is public and the terms are flat.

FAQ

Questions about the snapshot

We fetch your homepage HTML, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and llms.txt at request time. Nine binary hygiene signals are scored: meta description, canonical tag, single H1, valid robots.txt, sitemap declared in robots.txt, sitemap.xml at the root, any JSON-LD, Organization schema, and FAQPage schema. llms.txt is reported for information only and is never scored. We also read your robots.txt for the six most common AI crawlers, including OAI-SearchBot, and report whether each is allowed, blocked, or unaddressed.
No, and the name says so deliberately. It measures technical hygiene on your own domain. It cannot tell you whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or AI Overviews cite you, how they describe you, or how you compare with competitors in generated answers. That requires querying the assistants directly against a fixed prompt set, which this tool does not do. We plan to add real observed citation checks later.
Google has stated publicly that it does not use llms.txt, and no major provider documents it as a ranking or citation input. We publish one ourselves as a tracked experiment, so we report whether you have one, but scoring it would be misleading.
No. Every line in your result is a fact about a real HTTP response. If a request fails, the signal reads as absent and the detail line says we could not read it. We do not execute JavaScript, because the signals here are the ones a retrieval crawler reads without rendering.
It removes excuses. Crawler access, indexable rendering, and parseable markup are preconditions for being used as a source, not causes of citation. Google's own guidance says search fundamentals still apply to AI experiences and no special AI schema is required, which is roughly what this tool measures.
So we can send you the written scorecard and so a real person can follow up if you want help. There is no drip sequence and no gated upsell. Full pricing is published at momentence.com/pricing.
