Working with Momentence
Momentence is a blend of two words: momentum and cadence. Momentum is the result our clients want, compounding rankings, published evidence, content, and pipeline that are worth more in month twelve than in month one. Cadence is the method that produces it, a weekly operating rhythm of pages shipped, experiments run, and a written update every Friday. The name is the promise: momentum produced by cadence.
Momentence was founded by Nicholas Melillo, Founder and CEO. He is a five-time founder with a Wake Forest MBA, founder of Triad Search Marketing, founder and CEO of Lucidly, founder of Rocklane Strategy, founder of Managed Outbound, operator of the AI venture studio Cobalt Glacier, and a VC in Residence with LvlUp Ventures. He both runs growth for software companies and owns the P&L of software companies.
No. The level of strategy we provide depends on your stage. Earlier-stage companies often need help establishing the ICP, positioning, messaging, buyer journey, and channel priorities that the growth engine will be built around. Growth-stage companies typically have those pieces in place, but they may be fragmented or inconsistently executed, so we help refine and operationalize them. Larger companies usually have established GTM leadership and strategy; in those engagements Momentence works within that system and improves execution across website, search, content, paid media, conversion, and measurement.
Not in the traditional sense. Momentence owns the growth layer of GTM. We work across the strategic decisions that directly influence your website, acquisition channels, content, search visibility, paid media, conversion system, and measurement. Broader areas such as sales compensation, territory design, customer success operations, corporate strategy, and organizational design are not part of the standard Momentence engagement unless separately scoped.
Yes. Momentence can operate as the growth function for a lean team or integrate with an established marketing organization. For larger companies, we typically work alongside internal marketing, product marketing, RevOps, sales, design, development, and executive leadership rather than replacing those functions.
Weekly async updates in a shared Slack channel, bi-weekly or weekly strategy calls depending on tier, a live shared dashboard, and quarterly planning. The rhythm is predictable and does not change based on who happens to be traveling that week.
Six months across every tier. Growth compounds; single-month engagements do not, and neither we nor you are set up to succeed on a shorter horizon.
A pod: a strategist, service leads for the disciplines your tier includes (SEO/AEO, content, paid, design/build), and shared production. No senior-sale-junior-do-the-work. At Category Leadership we add a Head-of-Growth-level owner.
Async first, with defined weekly touchpoints. Slack for day-to-day, docs for decisions, and a written weekly update summarizing what shipped and what's next. We cover US business hours by default and adjust for EMEA or APAC when the client is based there.
We would rather scope right the first time than pause. If genuine circumstances change (funding delay, leadership change), we adjust scope down within the term. Full pause is not standard; we will talk through options honestly.

Pricing and scope
Because 'contact us for pricing' wastes both sides' time. Software buyers deserve to know if we are in their range before a call. Our tiers are transparent, and only genuinely complex portfolios get custom quotes.
No. Paid media budget is separate and goes directly to the ad platform on your account. We manage; you own the account, the data, and the spend.
Multi-product portfolios, multi-brand parents, multi-geography or multi-language, ad spend under management over $100k per month, or programmatic SEO at real scale. Anything narrower fits inside a published tier.
Add-ons let you extend a tier (more articles, more paid channels, localization). We do not fragment tiers into pick-and-choose bundles; the tiers reflect what actually compounds together.
Ignite carries a one-time $4,500 implementation fee that covers onboarding, measurement setup, technical configuration, initial campaign architecture, and the AI-built marketing site. Momentum and Category Leadership carry no implementation fee. Deep migrations off complex legacy stacks and custom multi-brand builds are scoped and quoted up front, never back-charged.

Services
Technical fixes and existing-page optimization can move rankings in weeks. New cluster content typically shows meaningful traffic in months 3 to 6 and compounds from there. Anyone promising 30-day SEO results is selling you something else.
We run a fixed prompt set against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Overviews on a schedule and record what each returned, with dates and archived answers. That is observation, not a ranking: answers vary by session, personalisation, and model updates, so we report trends and ranges rather than a precise score. Alongside it we report the inputs we do control, such as AI crawler access, indexability, factual consistency, and published evidence.
They are our two operating labels for one program, not official platform categories. AEO is the on-site half: crawler access, indexability, clear factual answers, structured data for machine clarity, and original evidence. GEO is the off-site half: consistent public facts, accurate listings and profiles, corrected stale claims, and earned authoritative mentions. Both are included in every tier because they share a prompt set and a content pipeline.
Observed mention rate across a stable prompt set, meaning how often your brand appeared in the answers we captured whether or not it was cited, plus whether the description was factually accurate. Every report includes the verbatim output and the date behind the number, and we say plainly when nothing changed.
$15,000 per month in paid spend, billed directly to you at zero markup, before the discipline of iteration pays back. Practically that means a Momentum engagement with paid active runs about $30,000 per month all in: the $15K retainer plus at least $15K in media. Below that, we recommend running one channel yourself or in-house until it warrants a dedicated program.
Weekly or bi-weekly 30-minute interviews with your product, engineering, or customer success leads. We record, transcribe, extract points of view, and turn them into content. You get a review pass before publish.
Short-form video ad creative and cutdowns of long-form content, yes. Full-production long-form video (case studies, brand films) is an add-on and rarely a growth priority at the tiers we serve.

Results and guarantees
No, and any agency that does is misleading you. We do commit to a defined operating rhythm, deliverables, and success metrics per engagement. If we consistently miss them, we adjust scope, credit, or offer to end the engagement early.
Written monthly reviews name what is working and what isn't. At the 90-day mark we hold a formal review; if the answer is 'this is not working,' we would rather end than drag it out. That is baked into how we scope.
Not yet, publicly. Momentence is early and we would rather earn the case studies than fabricate proof. On calls we walk through the operating model, the deliverables, and what our first engagements are building toward.
Standard confidentiality on all engagements. Non-competes on a category (e.g., 'do not work with anyone else in vertical X') are custom and case by case; we are transparent when a request would be a conflict.
No. Momentence runs inbound demand capture only: AI-native websites, SEO, AEO, GEO, content marketing, and paid advertising. When a program needs outbound demand creation, we refer clients to Managed Outbound, our sister company under common ownership. Separate teams, separate contracts, no referral fee. See /partners/managed-outbound for when each motion is the right first spend.

Data, tooling, and ownership
You. Everything runs on your accounts, in your names, on infrastructure you control. Our involvement is a service layer, not a lock-in.
GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs or Semrush, Segment or a similar CDP if you have one, and standard paid platforms (Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta). AI answer observation runs on internal tooling that queries the assistants on a schedule and archives the raw answers; we do not require you to buy new licenses.
Your CMS, whatever it is. We are stack-flexible; we prefer modern SSR frameworks for new builds but we work with existing WordPress, Webflow, or custom stacks.
Standard SaaS security posture: SSO where possible, least-privilege access, and no client data stored outside our shared tooling. We are happy to sign standard NDAs and security addenda.
Still have a question?
We'd rather answer it directly than have you guess. 30-minute call, no pitch deck.
