Proof/Content brief

The brief comes first, and the brief is the standard.

A complete brief plus a rewrite of a single existing page for Northlane, a fictional B2B SaaS company.

The short answer

A Momentence content brief names the query, the intent, the reader, the job of the page, the required sections, the evidence standard, the internal links, and the definition of done before anyone drafts a sentence. Optimization work uses the same brief format applied to a page that already exists.

  • Every brief states what is explicitly out of scope, not just what to include
  • The definition of done is measurable against the pages currently ranking
  • Optimization is a structural rewrite, not a keyword sprinkle
  • Answer-first openers exist because answer engines quote the first clear definition

Example data. Northlane is a fictional B2B SaaS company we use to show the exact format of our deliverables. Nothing on this page is a client result.

FieldValue
Primary queryworkflow automation for compliance teams
Search intentSolution-aware. The reader knows manual review is the problem and is scoping approaches, not vendors yet.
ReaderHead of Compliance at a 200 to 800 person financial services firm, technical enough to ask about audit logs.
Job of the pageMake the reader confident there is a defensible way to automate review without losing the audit trail, then move them to the audit-log feature page.
Answer-first openerOne sentence defining compliance workflow automation, then the three-part structure of a defensible implementation.
Required sectionsDefinition, why manual review breaks at scale, the four-stage automation model, audit and evidence requirements, rollout sequence, failure modes.
Evidence requiredNamed regulatory frameworks, an honest range on review-time reduction, one worked calculation of reviewer hours.
Internal linksAudit log feature page, integration page for the primary case management tool, the pricing page from the rollout section.
SchemaArticle plus FAQPage on the six questions listed at the bottom of the brief.
Definition of doneAnswers the query more completely than the three currently ranking pages, passes technical accuracy review, and every claim is sourced or stated as a range.
Explicitly out of scopeCompetitor comparisons, pricing claims, and anything that implies a compliance guarantee.

Part two

The optimization example.

One page that already existed, already had traffic, and was stuck on page two. Here is the decision log for the rewrite.
